Walz to visit West Michigan this week

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Democratic vice presidential candidate Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz will visit West Michigan later this week.

According to the Harris-Walz campaign, he will arrive at the Gerald R. Ford International Airport Thursday evening and then will hold a campaign event in Grand Rapids later that night.

On Friday morning, the campaign said he will take part in political events in Grand Rapids before heading to mid-Michigan. He will leave Michigan Friday afternoon to campaign in Wisconsin.

The campaign said the visit to Michigan is part of its New Way Forward tour to battleground states ahead of the election.

Michigan is a key battleground in the Nov. 5 election. A recent poll conducted by Emerson College Polling, The Hill and WOOD TV8 showed a tight race in Michigan: Vice President Kamala Harris had a 3-point lead over former President Donald Trump, a statistical tie considering the poll’s margin of error of plus or minus 3.4 percent.
