Showers and storms expected Friday

We’ll begin this morning with more clouds and temperatures in the low 60s. A quick light shower or sprinkle is possible in the morning after sunrise, but a much better chance for showers or storms arrives in the afternoon. An incoming cold front will help to reignite fresh downpours from 1 p.m – 6 p.m. A couple storms may become just strong enough to trigger a severe thunderstorm warning. Highs will still be able to hit the low to mid 80s with partly sunny skies when it is not raining. Wind will be from the south and shift westerly at 5-15 mph. Several communities will receive 0.10″ – 0.25″ of rain before skies clear Friday evening. Many will be dry by kickoff for high school football. Everyone will be dry by the fourth quarter.

Several shower chances in the 8 day forecast

Friday will be our first chance of rain in about two weeks. A split weekend forecast with sunshine returning Saturday with highs in the mid 80s. Expect overcast conditions Sunday with a good chance of showers and thunderstorms. Expect an active pattern to kick into gear, delivering several chances of showers in the week ahead.
