Most Grand Rapids traffic lights restored after outage

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Most traffic lights are back on in Grand Rapids after a car crash Friday afternoon took down a pole and caused an outage.

Ninety-five traffic lights were out originally, a spokesperson for the city of Grand Rapids told News 8. As of about 7:15 p.m., the city said about 70 had been restored and about 25 were left to go.

Officials traced the outage to a crash at College Avenue NE and Cedar Street NE.

Friday afternoon, News 8 crews saw lights out and traffic backups in the areas of College Avenue NE and Michigan Street NE, Fulton Street E and Fuller Avenue NE and Diamond Avenue NE and Michigan Street NE.
