Freezing rain expanding north, Winter Weather Advisory now covers more of Michigan

The weather-maker moving through Michigan tonight and very early Thursday has just a slight tweaking to its track. As a result the National Weather Service has expanded the winter weather advisory northward.

We now expect up to five-hundredths of an inch of freezing rain over almost the southern half of Lower Michigan. This is why the NWS- Grand Rapids and the NWS- Detroit added two rows of counties to the winter weather advisory.

The winter weather advisory goes into effect at 10 p.m. for most of us. The counties added by Detroit, being Shiawassee, Genesee, Lapeer and Oakland Counties, have the winter weather advisory going into effect at midnight tonight.

All counties have the winter weather advisory ending at 9 a.m. Thursday…
