GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — If you live in Grand Rapids, you may want to get the DEET and citronella candles ready. Experts are predicting the city will see higher levels of disease-spreading pests this year.
The National Pest Management Association (NPMA) publishes a Public Health Pest Index twice a year focusing on ticks, mosquitoes, cockroaches and rodents. Their experts analyze current and forecasted weather data to determine where creepy crawlies are most likely to be drawn to.
The cities on this year’s index include:

- Cleveland, Ohio
- Louisville, Kentucky
- Boston, Massachusetts
- Washington, D.C.
- Salt Lake City, Utah
- Denver, Colorado
- Seattle, Washington
- San Antonio, Texas
- New Orleans, Louisiana
- All of Florida
