MARQUETTE, MI – It’s been a great winter for snowmobiling in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. But one rider is taking home video of what could be a once-in-a-lifetime encounter on a wooded trail west of Marquette.
Chris Jones, a welder from La Crosse, Wisconsin, was here snowmobiling with friends during the last week in February when they rounded a curve to find a large wolf standing in the middle of a trail.
“We were coming around a corner and going up over a little knoll. He was standing right in the trail,” Jones told MLive in an interview. “We came to a complete stop and he wasn’t scared of us. He walked around and kept trying to walk toward us. We backed up to give him some room.”…
