Nonprofit celebrates construction of first tiny home of planned village

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Mel Trotter Ministries and subsidiary Next Step of West Michigan are breaking ground at a ceremony Thursday to celebrate the construction of their first tiny home.

It’s the first to be completed at Hope Village, which will become the site of a community of small homes built to help serve people experiencing homelessness in West Michigan.

The ceremony at noon Thursday will celebrate the first completed unit, but the ultimate goal of the project is to construct 16 furnished tiny homes on just under 2 acres of land near the Next Step facility…
