Man gets life in prison for deadly 2023 shooting

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A judge on Wednesday sentenced the third and final suspect in shooting that killed a 20-year-old man and injured a teenage boy in 2023.

Omarion Dixon, 20, received a mandatory life sentence for first-degree murder in the death of Julius Hight . A jury convicted him in January , more than two years after the shooting.

Prosecutors said Dixon was one of three people who opened fire on Hight, 20, and a 15-year-old boy as they walked their dog near Englewood Drive and 28th Street in Grand Rapids on April 13, 2023 . The teen survived.
