Severe T-Storm Watch now covers large part of southern Lower Michigan; Next few hours have all the storms

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect through late this evening as thunderstorms move across southwest and south-central Lower Michigan.

The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) went with a severe thunderstorm watch until instead of a tornado watch. The reason is a line of thunderstorms is gelling together and expected to mostly produce straight-line winds. An isolated tornado is not out of the question, but not the main severe weather threat.

Wind gusts in Illinois have ranged between 60 mph and damaging 75 mph. Those same types of gusts are possible in southwest and south-central Michigan…
