Michigan is packed with hidden gems. We’re talking quiet little beach towns, random lakes you’ve probably never heard of, and scenic spots that are way cooler than people give us credit for. But get this, the biggest bear ranch in the entire country is also right here in Michigan. Seriously.

Michigan’s Bear Population on the Rise
Before we get into this wild bear ranch, let’s talk about Michigan’s black bear population and how it is growing.
Most of Michigan’s bears live in the Upper Peninsula (makes sense, right?), but they’re starting to work their way down more and more into the northern part of the state, too. In fact, according to The Sun Times News, the bear population in the northern Lower Peninsula has increased by 55% since 2012, expanding into areas like Traverse City, Midland, and beyond. We’ve even had sightings in Genesee County over the past couple of years.
