After a week that has started out with a little bit of snow, chances of severe weather may return by the end of the work week in Michigan.
Much of the lower peninsula can expect at least some thunderstorms on Friday as multiple lines of storms are expected to pass through the state on April 18. The NOAA Storm Prediction Center has placed everywhere south of US-10 in a slight risk (2 out of 5) of seeing severe weather on Friday.
The setup will feature a morning round of storms that will originate in Iowa on Thursday and move across the state late Thursday night or early Friday morning.
“This does appear to be an isolated hail threat, possibly severe depending on what organizational mode the convection takes on,” the Grand Rapids NWS said . “If storms do occur early Friday morning, they will based on unstable air aloft (elevated) and therefore a cold Lake Michigan is not a factor.”
The Michigan Storm Chasers note that this round of storms would be out of the state between 5-8 a.m. on Friday morning. The next round of storms would approach in the evening…
