‘It’s a slap in the face to the community’ | NAACP of Greater Grand Rapids says Patrick Lyoya has not been forgotten

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. —

Three years ago, Patrick Lyoya was killed after an altercation with former Grand Rapids Police Officer Christopher Schurr. Monday, Schurr will stand trial for Lyoya’s death.

“The community has not forgotten, cause this was a very horrific incident, a murder, I think in the eyes of the community,” said Cle Jackson, president of the Greater Grand Rapids Branch of the NAACP. “And so now I think people are taking a pause and thankful that this family will get their day in court.”…
