Monday is gonig to be a very busy day in the Upper Midwest as a storm develops in the Northern Plains and moves eastward. A strong inflow of warm unstable air will surge northward up the Mississippi River Valley creating a highly unstable atmosphere. The result could be a widespread regional outbreak of severe thunderstorms and the potential for EF2-EF5 tornadoes which can be long lived and leave a wide path of destruction. The Storm Prediction Center is indicating a “moderate risk” or a 45% percent chance for severe thunderstorms across much of Western Wisconsin, Southern Minnesota, and a large portion of the state of Iowa.
