Grand Rapids ‘Free Outdoor Fitness’ series includes line dancing classes

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — On Monday night, 32 people gathered around Joycelyn Evans on the deck of the Richmond Park pool to learn line dancing from someone who fell in love with it an early age.

“I was going to the YWCA. I was probably 6 or 7. It was a summer vacation type deal, and we did, I think it was the ‘Electric Slide’ and from that, it just grew. I love it. I love line dancing,” said Evans, who owns Queens and Kings Line Dancing.

The line dancing class is one of many different types of classes offered in the city’s “Free Outdoor Fitness” series, which started on Monday. Every Monday through August 18th, except for Memorial Day, the Richmond Park pool will host the line dancing class from 7 to 7:45 p.m…
