Grand Rapids has ‘a lot more progress to make’ with gun violence deaths

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. —

For the first time this year, a man’s life was lost to gun violence in Grand Rapids. Grand Rapids Police Chief Eric Winstrom says that is one life too many.

“To get to May 23 without a deadly shooting, was certainly progress for the city, but now we’re talking about a tragic death that should not have happened, and a family that’s grieving, and even though the numbers are down for the year, it’s still it’s an indication that the city has a lot more progress to make,” Winstrom said…
