Hello, Grand Rapids: Veteran’s Purple Heart found in junkyard, and workplace death

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – There is a small Georgia town about 35 miles southwest of Atlanta called Newnan where residents are now talking about Grand Rapids.

An article this week that readers had a lot of interest in was published on Memorial Day. It was about a Grand Rapids World War II veteran’s Purple Heart being found this month in that town’s junkyard by a salvage worker, who turned it into local VFW Post.
