GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The first weekend of summer in West Michigan will be full of intense heat, high humidity, and large waves on the big lake.

This weekend is likely to be West Michigan’s warmest since June 2018.
A heat advisory is in effect for West Michigan through the weekend and will likely be extended into early next week. It’s for heat index values up to 100 degrees both Saturday and Sunday.
Temperatures are expected to reach the lower to middle 90s over a four-day stretch, beginning on Saturday. These stretches occur an average of once every three years, with the most recent being June of 2023.
