GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — For West Siders, seeing water finally filling the 450,000-gallon tank at Richmond Park Pool is a welcome sight.
It’s been a hot stretch to start this summer, and as of Thursday, the city of Grand Rapids has all three of its public pools open.
Pool season began on June 6, but that wasn’t the case at Richmond Park. Maintenance teams discovered a chlorine pump failure in late May during a routine pre-season inspection. Because of how old the damaged pump was, crews with Parks and Recreation say they had to have a new pump specially manufactured.
