GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Kent County Sheriff’s Office says it is seeing an increase in thefts in their southern townships and is recommending residents take precautions.
According to deputies, vehicle thefts, construction site thefts and thefts from vehicles are increasing in Byron, Caledonia and Gaines Townships.
KCSO is recommending the following steps for people to protect their belongings and their property:
- Lock your vehicles – even if the car is in your personal driveway. Remove all valuables from the car such as purses, wallets and any other electronics.
- Don’t leave keys or fobs in the car and keep garages closed and locked at all times.
- Outdoor lights should remain on at night. Use doorbell cams or home surveillance if you can.
- At construction sites, keep all tools, trailers, equipment and any other valuables as secure as you can.
