GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Kent County Veterans Services is reminding people to be aware of the impact fireworks can have on local veterans living with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Jeremy Binder, a combat-injured veteran and the accredited Veterans Service Officer at Kent County Veterans Services, knows firsthand how those triggers can affect daily life and how difficult the path to recovery can be without support.
“I was injured in Iraq in 2004,” Binder said. “It was a blast, in what they call an IED. After that, I went through multiple surgeries and extensive rehab before being medically retired in 2005.”…
