Library helps kids decorate bikes ahead of 4th of July

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A brief pop-up rain shower couldn’t stop dozens of children and their families from visiting the Kent District Library’s Plainfield branch on Thursday afternoon, where they decorated their bicycles in patriotic gear.

The library held the free event to help kids get ready for the parade at the nearby Northville Neighborhood Association. Kids got to choose from a variety of decorations, including flags, streamers, pinwheels, beads and ribbons.
