GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) has declared an Air Quality Advisory for July 4 and 5 in several West Michigan counties.
The advisory is due to elevated levels of ozone along the Lake Michigan shoreline, and affect Allegan, Kent, Muskegon, Ottawa, and Van Buren counties. It expires at 12 a.m. Sunday, July 6, officials said.

Pollutants within these areas are expected to be in the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups range.
Ozone development will persist through Saturday, so EGLE is recommending the public to avoid strenuous outdoor activities.
