GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A firework caused a tree fire that damaged a garage’s vinyl siding Wednesday night on Griggs Street on the southwest side of Grand Rapids, prompting fire officials to issue safety warnings ahead of the Fourth of July holiday.
The Grand Rapids Dire Department responded to what was initially reported as a possible structure fire. Once they arrived, they discovered a tree near a garage had caught fire, melting the building’s vinyl siding.
