Sunday forecast: Thunderstorms, heavy downpours and lightning possible

Hot and muggy conditions will continue today ahead of an approaching cold front, but we’ll also see the potential for thunderstorms moving across the Lower Peninsula. These storms could bring heavy rainfall at times, and wind gusts as high as 60 mph.

So if you’re spending the end of your long holiday weekend outside, you’ll want to stay aware of the weather.

“A warm and humid Sunday will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms to much of Lower Michigan,” National Weather Service meteorologists in Grand Rapids said this morning. “Lightning, sporadic downpours, and some local 40 to 60 mph gusts are the things to look out for.”…
