GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — When News 8 first met Karen Tyson, she was living in a growing tent city in Heartside Park outside of downtown Grand Rapids.
“There’s my little living room over there, my bedroom over here. That’s my porch,” Tyson told News 8 at the time, giving a tour of her tent.
Now, she’s housed, living at Heartside Landings, a program from Grand Rapids homeless outreach group Degage Ministries that has far exceeded organizers’ expectations.
