Michigan public broadcasters grappling with federal funding cut

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Public broadcasting stations across Michigan are grappling with a devastating $24 million funding cut after lawmakers voted to eliminate support for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, threatening local programming and potentially forcing some stations off the air.

The cuts will impact six public television stations and about a dozen public radio stations statewide, with some facing the loss of nearly half their operating budgets.
