GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The owner of a Grand Rapids bar says she’ll likely have to close its doors.
Maggie Thompson has owned Maggie’s Bar, at 855 Michigan St. near Houseman Avenue, for seven years. Over the years the bar, popular with the LGBTQ+ community, has had karaoke nights, cooked up Polish food for Pulaski Days and hosted other community events.
But faced with rising costs, fewer customers and other challenges — including her daughter fighting and beating cancer within the last few years — she said she’s struggling to keep up with the bills…
