GRAND RAPIDS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A man accused of stabbing a stranger at a metro Grand Rapids Walmart last week first denied the assault, but then told detectives he thought the victim might have something to do with his “truck being stolen,” court records show.
Christian Thompson, 29, on Monday appeared in a Kent County courtroom via video linkup from jail to be arraigned on a charge of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, a 10-year felony. A not guilty plea was entered, which is standard at arraignment.
The stabbing happened around 9 p.m. Friday at the Walmart on Alpine Avenue north of 4 Mile Road in Alpine Township.
