Closure of snack plant in Grand Rapids will impact 75 jobs

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Some 75 employees will be laid off as a snack maker prepares to close its plant in Grand Rapids, a notice filed with the state says.

Utz Brands Inc. on July 31 announced it intended to close the factory on Canton Street near Buchanan Avenue. Doing so will allow it to consolidate its footprint and save money, it said.

A Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification filed with the state shows additional details. The closure will impact 75 people, the notice says, and the plant will be closed by Jan. 30, 2026.
