Two killed in separate crashes overnight in West Michigan

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Two men are dead following separate overnight crashes in Kalamazoo and Ottawa counties, both currently under investigation.

Early Saturday morning around 2 a.m., Kalamazoo Public Safety officers responded to a crash near Riverview Drive and East Paterson Street. When officers arrived, they found two heavily damaged vehicles—one off the roadway with the driver trapped inside, and the other abandoned near the intersection.

The trapped driver, a 24-year-old Kalamazoo resident, was pulled from the vehicle as smoke and fire emerged from underneath. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released pending family notification…
