Local nonprofit transforms 10 hospital rooms for patients in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Several patients were surprised after they discovered their hospital rooms were given personalized makeovers Thursday.

A nonprofit group, named Once Upon a Room, decorated 10 rooms at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital in Grand Rapids.

7-year-old Stella McCarthy’s room was the 100th room decorated in Grand Rapids, according to Mary Free Bed staff. Her room was transformed into a pink and purple unicorn wonderland.
