Homeless service center OK’d for Leonard Street corridor after months of controversy

The Grand Rapids Planning Commission has approved a faith-based nonprofit’s request to relocate from a residential neighborhood on the city’s west side to a nearby commercial corridor, despite concerns from nearby residents and business owners.

Matthew’s House Ministry’s request for a special land use permit allowing it to relocate to 1050 Leonard St. NW ultimately received unanimous support on Aug. 14 from the commission after months of delay.
