Pet owners urged to update microchip info on National Check the Chip Day

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Aug. 15 is National Check the Chip Day, a reminder for pet parents to ensure their pets are microchipped and up-to-date.

The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) reports that about 10 million pets are lost or stolen each year—and microchipped dogs are more than twice as likely to be returned, while microchipped cats are 20 times more likely to be returned.
