GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — On Aug. 21, visitors can attend an all-ages skateboarding workshop from Friends of Grand Rapids Parks, the Chill Foundation and Premier at Clemente DIY skate park.
“I think it’s a little intimidating at first for a lot of kids,” Chris Gray, art director at Premier, said. “Come down, we’re a really fun, entertaining group. We’re there to get boards into kids’ hands and just hang out.”
The workshop — which lasts 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. — is intended for anyone interested in the very basics of skateboarding and how to get started. For those without a board, helmets and boards will be provided by the events’ organizers, like international network Chill Foundation.
“They help out teaching kids how to skate,” Gray said. “They help us get skateboards into kids’ hands.”
