GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Monday marks the first day of school for Grand Rapids Public Schools students.
It’s been a busy summer of renovations for the district. After a $7 million project, Southeast Career Pathways — which was formerly Sigsbee Elementary — is now ready to welcome students. GRPS has also been making upgrades to Houseman Field and Briggs Field.

At Harrison Park Academy, a new health clinic — run in partnership with Catherine’s Health Center — serves children and young adults ages 3 to 21. It offers checkups, immunizations, sports physicals, treatment for illness and injuries and individual and group counseling. Parent or caregiver consent is required. The site includes exam rooms, a behavioral health office, a lab and registration space.
Funded by a state health department grant, the clinic will stay open year-round, except holidays and Fridays during the summer. District leaders say it fills a gap on the city’s northwest side, where access to adolescent care is limited.
