Grand Rapids festival celebrates art, music and the Grand River

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Visitors to 555 Monroe and the Sixth Street Bridge in downtown Grand Rapids can attend the fourth annual Return to the River arts and music festival this weekend for free.

“The crowd at this festival is really a beautiful, diverse crowd of Grand Rapidians — of all ages, of all backgrounds,” Bill Kirk, communications director for Downtown Grand Rapids Inc., said. “It’s a really positive way to connect with the community.”

Beginning Saturday, attendees to Return to the River can expect to see live bands, a Merchants and Makers sale, food vendors and plenty of original artwork.

“Each year, we tend to bring in more art,” Kirk said. “We have three large-scale art installations this year that are coming in.”…
