Logan’s Alley in Grand Rapids reopens after ‘face lift’

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A popular neighborhood pub in northeast Grand Rapids has reopened after a short closure for renovations.

Logan’s Alley was packed Friday afternoon, its first day open since it closed on Aug. 18 for a “face lift.” While customers won’t notice any major changes, they will see updates like refinished tables, a new floor behind the bar and a new service station for staff.

“We decided this summer that it was time to reinvest, it just needed some upgrades,” owner Larry Zeiser told News 8 in a phone interview Friday. “We value service … (more than) anything else and we felt that the bar needed some upgrades to continue giving great service.”

He said the bar, located at 916 Michigan St. near Diamond Avenue, also has new floors in the kitchen and a new layout in the backroom. Some of the upgrades were focused on making things more efficient for staff.

“The upgrades aren’t just for the guests that are coming in. We wanted to show the staff that’s been working there — and a lot of people have been there for quite some time —that we’re willing to invest in there and make their life easier, too,” he said.
