Parades, walks around Michigan celebrate Labor Day

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Michigan marked Labor Day with parades and walks Monday.

The Mackinac Bridge Walk drew large crowds as usual, with some 33,000 people hoofing it over the iconic landmark, according to the Mackinac Bridge Authority. Among them was U.S. Sen. Gary Peters, D-Bloomfield Township, who led the event.

“It was a picture-perfect day, with bright blue skies and a mild breeze,” Bridge Director Kim Nowack said in a statement. “About 33,000 people enjoyed this beautiful day and walked the bridge, with roughly 3,000 more participants taking the trek than in 2024.”
