West Michigan counties to host resource events for homeless veterans

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Two upcoming events are aimed at connecting veterans to free health screenings, benefit claims assistance, employment help and more resources in West Michigan.

The Kent County Veterans Services department and the Ottawa County Department of Veterans Services are each hosting their own Stand Down events for veterans in their respective counties.

Here’s when and where both events will be happening:

  • Kent County’s Homeless Veteran Stand Down event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, at 1222 Bradford St. NE in Grand Rapids.
  • Ottawa County’s Veterans Stand Down & Resource Fair is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, at the Central Park Place Event Center, 421 Columbus Ave. in Grand Haven

Both free events are open to local veterans and their families. They will have free food, clothing, health screenings and other services aimed at getting at-risk veterans the help they need…
