KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Reeds Lake in East Grand Rapids was the site of a unique triathlon on Saturday.
Hundreds of amputees joined forced with their prosthetists and therapists from Mary Free Bed to compete in the Rhoades McKee Reeds Lake Triathlon.

Eight teams made up of Mary Free Bed clinicians, therapists, and adaptive athletes tag-teamed the swim, bike, and run portions of the race, along with five individual solo competitors.
“That’s what races are about, is coming together. It doesn’t matter if you’re gonna PR, this is your first time, or this is your 10th or 100th time,” said Lyndzie Motcheck, an orthotist prosthetist at Mary Free Bed.
