GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A $1.3 million project starting Sept. 22 will affect traffic at the I-196/US-131 interchange in downtown Grand Rapids.
The project will fix up the five bridges at the interchange, the Michigan Department of Transportation said. Construction will include concrete substructure repair, slope improvements, bearing replacement and painting.

Effective Sept. 22 and running through late October, there will be lane closures on east and westbound I-196. The ramp from westbound 196 to southbound 131 will be closed for the duration of the work.
The eastbound lanes will be shut down for two weekends, though the exact dates for that have not yet been determined…
