Opening Ceremony For Veterans ArtPrize Exhibit

On Saturday, September 20, Kent County Veterans Services and Art for Honor are hosting a free, family-friendly opening ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park to showcase the work of more than 25 veteran artists.

Art for Honor is all about giving veterans a platform to share their stories and express themselves through art. Visitors will have the chance to see a wide variety of artwork while learning more about the experiences that inspired it.

Ceremony Details

At 10a.m. there’s the opportunity for photos with the artists and at 10:25a.m., the American Legion Riders arrive.

Then, the opening ceremony kicks off at 10:30a.m. with a color guard presentation and bagpiper, followed by remarks from several notable guests including ArtPrize Executive Director Catlin Whitington, Art for Honor Project Manager Kelly Dentler, Medal of Honor recipient James “Doc” McCloughan, and Kent County Veterans Services Director Ryan Grams.

But it’s not just about speeches—there’s plenty of fun for the whole family. At 11:15 a.m., musical performances start. Beginning at 12:15 p.m., kids can enjoy face painting, crafts, and balloon art. Grab a bite from the food truck too!…
