West Michigan family settles with Wendy’s over severe E. coli infection

A West Michigan family has agreed to settle its lawsuit against a Wendy’s franchisee.

The Lamfers family was seeking more than $20 million when it sued Meritage Hospitality Group in April 2024 over an E. coli infection that left their 11-year-old, with “permanent injuries and life-changing medical conditions.”

The two sides reached a settlement agreement this month, according to Thomas Worsfold, the Lamfers’ attorney. A civil trial had been scheduled to begin in January 2026…
