Grand Rapids’ Wealthy Street hosts free block party

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — On Sept. 27, visitors to the corner of Wealthy Street and Eastern Avenue can attend the first ever Wealthy Street Block Party, a free community event.

“It’s going to be perfect weather,” Mitch Ermatinger, president of the Wealthy Street Business Alliance and owner of Speciation Cellars, said. “This will be a good opportunity to hang out in the Wealthy Street district. We’ve had a lot going on, and the district has changed a lot over the years.”

Wealthy Street Block Party has been coordinated by the Wealthy Street Business Alliance along with several eastside Grand Rapids neighborhood associations.

“We’ve partnered with the East Hills Council of Neighbors,” Ermatinger said. “They’ve thrown a number of events on Wealthy Street, and so we wanted to work with them on this one.”

Beginning at noon, visitors can enjoy live music, food trucks, beverages from Speciation Cellars and other vendors, artisan craft booths and more…
