As kids in West Michigan are heading back to school this fall there has been an increase in cases of students with Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD).
Dr. Ben Tift, a pediatrician at Corewell Health told Fox 17 that HFMD is starting to go around West Michigan.
“Hand, Foot and Mouth is definitely spreading, like we’ve been seeing cases in the office out here in Grand Haven every day for the last couple weeks.”
What Is Hand, Foot, And Mouth Disease
HFMD is a common and contagious viral illness that causes a rash with spots or blisters on the hands, feet, and inside the mouth.
It’s most common in young children but can affect older kids and adults as well.
