GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Hours after a fire broke out at a home in the Alpine Meadows mobile home park, a neighbor recalled his split-second decision to run into the home in an attempt to save a man still inside.
Cristian Eggleston said he was laying in bed when the fire began around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday. The smell of smoke prompted him to look out the window, where he saw fire through the trees.
