Rosie’s Diner, a 1940s classic diner in Rockford that has stood the test of time, has been a must-see destination for years. It has traveled the country and been featured on TV multiple times. It gained national fame after being featured in a successful run of Bounty commercials that inspired its name, and has appeared on the Food Channel.

Throughout its storied history, the diner has lived through many different chapters. Since 2011, it’s been in a “closed and abandoned” chapter. However, things were looking up when it was announced in 2023 that the diner had been purchased by Dawn and Chuck Perry and would be relocated to Missouri. The iconic sign had already been removed and transported; the building would be restored to its former glory and begin a new chapter.
However, that move still hasn’t materialized. The move initially set for Spring 2024 has come and gone. The Original Rosie’s Diner Facebook page‘s last updates , from May and June, stated that the sign had arrived in Millersburg and that some dirt work had begun on the diner’s new location .
Something Is Happening At Rosie’s Diner
But since then, the last update in June stated that no progress had been made on moving the actual diner. It’s now been over a year since any updates have been posted. However, something is happening at Rosie’s Diner. I went and visited the location myself to get an idea of what was happening, and there have definitely been construction vehicles on the scene.
Comparing these photos to an in-depth walk-through posted a few years prior, the add-on kitchens have been removed from the back, parts of the old mini golf course have been torn up, and curiously, the large coffee cup that was part of the course has been moved to the front of the property…
