GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Large crowds gathered Saturday for “No Kings” protests across the country, including several in West Michigan.
The rallies in protest against the Trump administration were held nationwide for the second time this year. The first time was June 14 on President Donald Trump’s birthday. The No Kings movement’s website said that Saturday’s protests were an attempt to take another stand against what it says is Trump’s authoritarianism.
“In June, we did what many claimed was impossible: peacefully mobilized millions of people to take to the streets and declare with one voice: America has No Kings. And it mattered,” the site said. “The president thinks his rule is absolute. But in America, we don’t have kings and we won’t back down against chaos, corruption, and cruelty.”…
