West Michigan students attend MSP violence prevention summit

KENTWOOD, Mich. (WOOD) — The Michigan State Police held a youth violence prevention summit near Grand Rapids Thursday with students from local school districts.

The event was about bringing students together with police with the goal of building relationships and finding ways to address violence.

“I think it’s really cool that so many people are recognizing that there’s something going on,” said Jennifer Calkins, a student at Fruitport High School.
