Prosecutor: 2 more teens charged in theft after beating of Grand Rapids man

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The Kent County prosecutor said two more teenagers have been charged in a theft after an attack where Grand Rapids police said a man was jumped and seriously injured before the teens broke into his home.

The two teens were charged Tuesday with receiving/concealing a motor vehicle, larceny from person and third-degree home invasion, which are all felony charges, according to Kent County Prosecutor Chris Becker. Another, third teen had previously been charged with aggravated assault, illegal use of financial transaction device and receiving/concealing a motor vehicle.

GRPD: Teens severely beat man, then broke into home

The attack happened Aug. 16. Officers with the Grand Rapids Police Department were called around 8:30 a.m. for a burglary at a home on 8th Street NW near Parkhurst Avenue on Grand Rapids’ West Side. It was reported by someone who did not live in the home. Officers tried to reach the person who lived there, but he didn’t answer.

The same day, police got a call from a hospital saying an unidentified man had been brought in by ambulance around 6 a.m. He had been listed in critical condition. GRPD confirmed the man was the resident of the home that had been broken into…
